Car Craft Street Machine of the Year
Welcome to the Car Craft Street Machine of the Year Competition where you can show off your car's braking, handling, and horsepower-generating abilities against the best cars in the nation over three days at the 2008 Car Craft Summer Nationals.
To enter the contest, sign up online at www.familyevents.com and tell us about your car. The editors of Car Craft magazine will select 10 cars from 2 specific classes and 2 standbys to compete at the nationals. If you are selected, you will receive an invitation to the Car Craft Summer Nationals Street Machine of the Year, a special Street Machine of the Year decal, and a chance to win a Car Craft Street Machine of the Year jacket, trophy, and a spot for your car in Car Craft magazine.
The Contest: Each vehicle will compete over three days in the Baer Brakes braking contest, the QA1 autocross course, and the DynoMax Dyno Challenge where each vehicle will be tested for maximum horsepower at the wheels on the DynoMax chassis dyno. To be eligible for the SMOTY, you must compete in all three events.
Points: The Top 10 finishers in any one class will receive 10-100 points for their respective positions using the best time, distance, or horsepower number depending on the event. The car with the most points out of 300 is the SMOTY for each class. Cars finishing out of the Top 10 will receive zero points. DNF and DNS entries will receive 0 points. If there is a tie, the car with the most HP on the dyno wins. DNF or DNS on the dyno count as zero hp.
Rules: All cars must adhere to the rules and regulations set by the autocross sanctioning body (SCCA) and the DynoMax Dyno Challenge. Exceptions to the DynoMax rules are as follows:
-Any brand muffler allowed
-No diesel fuels
-Racing gasoline is permittedClass 1: '55-'81 American two-wheel-drive vehicles (includes '83 Corvette)
Class 2: '82-and-newer American two-wheel drive vehicles
