These days, the car does not spend much time as a parts-chaser; Dale figures he still puts about 5,000 miles a year on it, mostly driving to shows in the southeast. (His next project will be adding an aftermarket A/C kit for that very reason.) Oh, and for you purists out there, all the old parts are still stashed away so they could be put on when stock 383 Road Runner values go through the proverbial roof.
The projects don't show up as often as they used to, although Dale did manage to snag a '71 340 Road Runner sold through the same dealership, Terry's Chrysler Plymouth in Charlotte, and hopes that someday he will have a black-and-gold twin to match this one.
"I've got to give the most credit to Ken Blewis," he concludes. "I luckily live in an area with a lot of Mopar guys who help out with stuff, but without his determination, this car would still be a beater. I have had more fun with this car than any other, and have met a lot of great people and made many friends because of it."
